We have been putting Cayden on the floor more often so that he can start rolling over more. Right now he only rolls if he's at the right position and he's able to. He doesn't just roll from his back to his stomach and vise versa.

He's still sleeping through the night. We have increased his feedings from 4oz to 6oz. I was giving him 4oz but he was drinking them more frequently then the normal 3 hour schedule that he has been on since birth. It's not really a schedule that we have set for him, he's just on his own schedule and it works for all of us.

He loves to kick his legs and tries to move them like he's crawling when he's on his stomach. He can lift his head up pretty high when he's on his back also. It looks like he's going to lift his self up and get up. lol.  It's so adorable. He's growing up!

This week Cayden has been reaching for us and grabbing things. If something is in front of him he will reach for it and grab it. Everything he gets his hands on goes straight to his mouth. He's still teething but he wears his Amber Teething Necklace, which keeps all the pain and irritability away. That thing is a lifesaver. If you haven't purchased one for your teething baby, then you need to ASAP. We haven't had any pain or discomfort since Cayden has been teething.

Cayden has been playing with more of his toys this week. I've had him in his walker and his bouncy toy. He sits in both and plays with the toys for a few minutes. They do not hold his attention for long. I've been introducing him to these two toys so that he can sit up more and also get use to being in them.

He still doesn't hold his own bottle but he tries to. I try to give him some milk in his sippy cup a few times everyday so that he can learn to suck from the sippy cup. I'm introducing him to it slowly. He literally just sucks from the cup, a few minutes each day. The sippy cup has handles on it so he might start holding the sippy cup before he ever actually holds his bottle. lol.

Cayden has been eating more foods this week. We let him sample most things that we eat. If it's not super soft then I will smash it up so that it's soft so he can taste it. He still doesn't know how to just swallow what we give him so he plays with it in his mouth and pushes it out his mouth a few times before he finally pushes it to the back of his mouth and swallows.

It's so exciting watching him grow and learn new things. He loves interacting with people. Always smiling at strangers. You would think he actually knows people the way he smiles at them. My baby is getting big and growing out of his clothes. This week has passed by so fast. He will be 6 months soon!

My baby is officially 5 months. Which means my Husband and I have survived 5 months of parenthood! How awesome is that !?!

Cayden tries to hold his bottles but he doesn't know how to do it all by himself yet. I'm going to start introducing the baby cups to him twice a day. They are sippy cups but they have the soft spout and feels similiar to a baby bottle nipple. Lets see how this turns out. I'm hoping we can transition to sippy cups within the next few months.

Cayden really knows who his parents are and he knows which one of us he wants and at what time he wants us. lol. It's so funny to see him look at one of us and smile and start getting so excited. When my Husband comes home from work Cayden  gets excited and wants him to pick him up. He can't reach for us but he can open his arms and sort of put his hands up. I'm assuming that's his version of reaching. lol

Cayden has been laughing and smiling a lot. He loves to play and giggle. He's been sampling a lot of our food that we eat. We are planning to start feeding him baby food when he's 6 months. So that's about another month from now. I can tell that he's ready for food. He's not really interested in his formula but I make sure he finishes his bottles because I want to be sure that he gets all his nutrients.

Cayden is still teething and he's been fussy a few times this past week when I took his Amber Teething necklace off. I had to take it off because he had a raw spot in his neck area. This is from him drooling constantly.

He has also been fussy around nap time. I'm not sure if this is related to him teething or not, but he wants to sleep in my arms a lot. When I go to lay him down he either wakes up or cries sometimes. Maybe this is a phase that he's going through. I hope my baby is not acting spoiled. lol

The Child Development Center (CDC) on base offers drop in hourly child care when there's space available. I dropped Cayden off for 5 hours on Friday so that I can get things done around the house, run errands and go grocery shopping. When all of that was done, The husband and I, was able to go and see a movie also. My husband normally only works a few hours on Friday so his schedule allowed us some time together. That was our first date without the baby since he has been born. When we go places, even the movies, we always take the baby with us.

Taking Cayden to the CDC also gives me some time to myself. Since we do not have any family around us this is how we get help with the baby. It works for him to because he loves the staff and they love him. He's a people watcher so he enjoys watching the other babies run around and crawl around.
