It's almost 5pm on New Years Eve. I'm looking forward to midnight because it will be the start of a new year. I plan to make 2014 a great year! My Husband has duty tonight but we will spend New Years Day together. We are also expecting our first baby boy to arrive any day now. It would be cool if he were to come on New Years Day but i'm sure that's not going to happen. lol

I'm not into making new years resolutions anymore. I strive to achieve my goals daily. There's always something new that I want to work on to make me a better woman, wife, mother, sister, daughter, neice, granddaughter and friend!

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

Happy New Year 2014!

I had my prenatal check up this week. I will start going weekly now so the next appointment is next week. My appointment went good. I had a few questions about the delivery process and that was about it.

I've been feeling some pain and numbness in my leg, feet and hands these last few days. I will address this at my next appointment.

Week 35 is passing and I'm doing my count down!

As of now, sleeping is a thing of the past. I've been woke more then i'm sleep. I always hear most pregnant women say that they sleep a lot and are always tired. I'm the opposite. I'm wide awake at night and I'm not even tired. Maybe it's because I'm ready for the baby to get here and i'm so excited that I'm not able to sleep?? I hope this is the reason!

I had a craving for fried fish last night. I haven't really been into eating fried foods lately so this was something new for me. Once I had the plate in front of me I could only eat one piece. I guess my cravings aren't as intense as I thought they would be. I'm still eating sweets often. I shouldn't but they are my favorite thing to eat.

I'm still feeling pressure down below. It makes walking difficult and sometimes painful. Especially If I have to pee. Once I feel the urge and stand up to head to the bathroom, my legs go into over drive and start to hurt and I have to walk slow. It still feels like I've been saddled on a horse all day.

I have my next prenatal appointment next week.

I had my prenatal appointment this week. The baby is healthy and he weights 4lbs 3oz. My belly is measuring 33 inches. Which means I'm right on time.

I have been feeling pressure in the pelvic area. The doctor did an exam and said the baby is still high up. The pressure is just the weight of the baby and all the extra fluids in my body. It's very uncomfortable. Sometimes it hurts to walk.

I haven't been able to get much sleep this week. I've been in bed with the lights and the tv off for hours and my body just refuses to relax and fall asleep. I'm not able to take naps during the day either. One things for sure, I'm in bed resting most of the day, just can't get any sleep. The doctor said for me to drink lots of water and get lots of rest these next few weeks.

We took Maternity/Christmas pictures this yesterday. I wasn't able to wear my wedding ring because my hands swell a lot. I took the ring off about two weeks ago. I was taking it off while at home and wearing it when I leave the house but eventually it started to be too tight for me to wear at all.

Here are the pictures from our photo shoot this week!

I went to the Doctor and had an ultrasound this week. When I got there I told them about my abscess from Last Thursday and they decided to check me out just to make sure I didn't have any infections or anything. I was cleared.

The baby is growing and he's healthy! He's weighing about 4 pounds 3 ounces. He's pretty much fully developed. His lungs will need a few more weeks before they are fully developed. My placenta is still in the same place so I'm still diagnosed with Placenta Previa. I will go back for my next ultrasound at 37 weeks.

I'm still feeling a lot of pressure and discomfort in my pelvic area. I've noticed that my stomach looks like it has already started to drop. His head is down there and that's what the pressure is that I'm feeling.

This week my throat has been burning a lot at night. I try not to eat anything after 9pm, but I will still start burping and my throat will start burning around midnight. One night this week, I was up till 5am because of this!

We went to my Husbands Command Christmas Party. It was hard to find a maternity dress so I just wore pants with a nice blouse. I made sure that we sat in the back so I could be as close as I could to the restroom. Even If I have nothing to drink, I still have to pee as if I've had a full glass of water. lol. Within three hours I think I went to the restroom about 4 times.

We also attended a car seat safety class this week. It was offered through the WIC program. It took about 15 minutes but we actually learned a lot. Especially with us being new parents and all. We didn't know much about how to install a car seat or how to make sure the baby using the right seat the right way.

I had a doctors appointment this week with my primary care doctor because I needed to get a referral to the dermatologist. Not sure If they will be able to really treat me while I'm pregnant but my face has been really itchy and dry lately. I'm hoping it's just pregnancy related. The doctor also gave me some stool softeners to help me have a "smooth" transition in the restroom. lol

I went to see my prenatal doctor this week. My belly registered a little over 32 inches. The doctor said it was normal as long as I register within two inches of where I'm suppose to be.

On Thanksgiving morning I had two bumps that were hard and painful so I decided to go to the E.R. just so they could give me some antibiotics for the bumps. Turns out they were Abscess and they needed to cut them open and drain them. They numbed the area and it took all of two minutes to cut and drain them. They gave me a prescription for antibiotics to clear up any infection that could have been caused by the Abscess. The pain was still there for a few days afterwards.

I've also been feeling some pressure in my pelvic area. It almost hurts to walk at times. It's not a constant pain. It comes and goes during the day. I've noticed that sometimes I get the dizzy effect without being dizzy. I will see small burst of light, like when you see stars then you faint. This has happen a few times this week. I will tell my doctor at my next appointment.

I received a few more gifts from my baby registry this week! Me and Baby Mills love gifts.

I'm getting closer and closer to my due date. There's about two more months left until my Son arrives.

Week 30 has been a long week for me. I have been feeling pain which makes me very uncomfortable.
My pelvic area has been hurting. I feel like I've been on a horse or something. It hurts to walk at times. It's never a pain that last for hours. It comes and hurts for maybe an hour then goes away and comes back later.

The doctor told me that it's just pressure from the babies head being down there. As time progress it will probably get worst and not better. I'm not looking forward to that at all.

Every time I eat I get a burning feeling in my throat. It hurts plus it feels so nasty. I know that the baby is taking up all the room in my belly which is forcing my stomach and stuff to be higher up. It's like the food is just sitting in my throat for hours.

I still have some swelling of my hands and feet. Besides that issues that I've stated, I'm still moving alone!

As most of you know, I had a breast reduction January 11, 2013. It was needed because my breast were large and they were causing me to have back, neck and shoulder pain. My recovery process went smooth and I've healed up well.

I received some useful information from Dr. Elizabeth Harris & The Center for Cosmetic Surgery. If you are thinking about having surgery but have not done any research then here's some great information for you!

Less Is More: The Benefits of Breast Reduction

Most people are familiar with the concept and motivations behind breast augmentation surgery. However, another fairly common request made in plastic surgery of which many people are not aware.  Successful breast reduction surgery demonstrates that sometimes less really is more.

While many women want to augment the size of their breasts to create a more pleasing contour, others have found that their breasts are too large or have acquired an unpleasing shape. A special procedure in cosmetic surgery allows surgeons to remove varying amounts of breast tissue. The results leave women with breasts that are still generously proportioned but attractive as well.

Women's breasts sometimes cause pain due to natural development or age. Other times, childbirth and breastfeeding can lead to breasts that hang pendulously and discomfort women with their burdens. Fortunately, this issue can be solved through breast reduction.

How Do Breast Reductions Work?

The standard and most popular form of incision used to perform breast reduction is known as the lollipop. This creates less scarring than any other approach.  Surgeons cut around the border of the nipple and also make an incision straight down from the nipple to the inframammary crease. Excess breast tissue is removed through this incision.

Sometimes, women with very large breasts must undergo an anchor incision. This includes the lollipop with an added horizontal incision that runs along the inframammary crease. With either approach, breastfeeding may be difficult in the future due to the damage to tissue surrounding the nipple.

Benefits of Breast Reduction

·         Appearance

Breast reductions do not simply remove breast tissue. The removal allows the breasts to regain a certain contour that lifts the nipples higher. The results are breasts which look much more attractive.

·         Comfort

Very large breasts are burdensome. Their weight can cause significant back pain, which breast reduction can help alleviate.

·         Freedom

After breast reductions, many women report happiness at being able to do many things without their oversized breasts getting in the way.

I had my final 4 week prenatal appointment this week. I will now start going for my prenatal visits every 2 weeks. When I reach 36 weeks I will start going for weekly visits. My prenatal appointments are pretty fast. I meet with a midwife and she checks the babys heart beat and measures my belly.
Just being able to hear the babys heart beat is always a wonderful experience for my husband and myself.

You can see the baby moving by looking at my stomach. My husband can now feel him by touching my stomach also. This started last week. It's like the baby moves all day now. He still gets really active around midnight.

I haven't had any cravings this week. I've actually slowed down my eating because I haven't had much of an appetite these past few weeks. I have to make myself eat my meals and my healthy snacks so that me and the baby can get our nutrients.

I've done more to the baby's nursery this week then I've done the whole pregnancy. I think I'm starting my nesting phase early. I also prewashed about a weeks worth of his newborn and 0-3 Month clothes. Some of his clothes look so tiny. It's been a while since I've been around a newborn baby so I'm not sure how small or how big to expect a newborn to weight but the newborn clothes look super tiny.

This week has been very uncomfortable for me. I've been having acid reflex and I haven't had much of an appetite. I've also been feeling really tired and sluggish. I had an upset stomach a few times this week. The prior weeks were better then this week.

I guess since i'm getting further along in my pregnancy things are starting to change up more. I thought the further along I get the easier it will get. I was very wrong about that.

I can't complain about anything. It's all normal pregnancy symptoms. I just wish I didn't have to have any pregnancy symptoms, but that would be a perfect world and of course that can't happen.

I have started working on the baby's nursery. I was tired of seeing it look like a storage room. Since I do not have much energy this will be a long project for me. I will post a picture next week of my progress of the Nursery.

I'm still open for baby name suggestions. This week my current list of names are Brayen and Jayson. Every week I come up with new names that I love. lol

As you can see, I've changed my Blog's name to Piece of Happiness. I feel so happy with how things are going and what the future has in store for me. I just figured this new name sums all of that up for me.

It was also time for a new design. So I hope you enjoy the updates to my blog. I seem to only blog about my pregnancy for now. I haven't been in a big blogging mood so my normal blogging will probably start back after the baby gets here.

I have a .BlogSpot address for the blog. Can someone explain how to purchase a domain name from blogger/google? That would really help me out right now.

I've downloaded a few apps on my phone for baby name help. One of them is babynames.com. This app has some names by ranking. Most of the names on the top 100 list are cute, but they are so popular that, if I name my son of one them, he will probably meet a few 100 other kids his age with the same name. That's just not cool at all.

It is so hard for me to pick a name for my son. If it's up to me he would have at least ten names. lol. I can't find one name to stick with. I know I have a few more months to make my mind up but it's so hard!

So far I like the names, Kingston, Cash, Joshua, Nicholas, Declan and Cayden. There's a few different ways that Caiden could be spelled. That's one reason why I like that name. Even though I these are a few of the names that I like, I still can't come up with a middle name for these names either. Without a middle name to go with the first name, really makes it hard to sample the name out.

My Husband hasn't came up with any names yet. He wants the baby to be born and we look at him and name him. I don't think I can wait that long. I really want him to have a name ASAP. One thing that we do agree on is that, we do not want him to be a Junior at all. That's not something that we are interested in. Our son needs his own identity.

Any baby names you would like to recommend? I'm looking for something simple, but cute.

The weeks are seeming to really by me by. I'm getting closer and closer to the end of this pregnancy. My son still has no name. I posted a question on my personal Facebook page so that I could get some ideas on what to name him. I received some great ideas so now I just need to make my mind up on a name.

I have had really bad headaches this week. The doctor said that I can only take Tylenol so that hasn't been helping me much at all. Can anybody suggest some all natural remedies that I might be able to try that would help with the headaches?

I can feel the baby all day everyday. He has really started moving a lot. It feels very uncomfortable. It feels like he's growing and there's no room in there for him. I've also been feeling aches in funny places. Such as my legs, arms, fingers, back and butt. My hands and feet keep swelling.

This final trimester is starting off kind of hard for me.  I'm sure other women have been through worst but my headaches and the baby's movement is enough for me! I'm hoping that It will not get any worst for me.

This weeks pictures shows how bloated my face looks. My hair looks a crazy mess.

I've finally completed my Baby Registry. It took forever for me to pick out things I think I need. Let me know if there are any must have items that I should have on my list.

I've already received some boxes of gifts from my close friends. I have a few friends that just found out that they are pregnant so I will soon be purchasing some stuff so I can make some new baby gift baskets. Every time I receive a box of gifts I get super excited, even though the gifts are for the baby and not me. lol

The baby has a room full of stuff. It's junky because all the stuff is all over the place. I'm hoping that I will start my nesting phase soon so that I can put his room together. It looks nothing like a nursery right now. It looks like a storage room. I'm scared to know how much stuff I will have to organize in  a few months because we acquire more stuff every week.

Here's a picture of some of the stuff in the baby's room so far! (There's even more hiding in the closet)

Baby Registry

I've finally completed my Baby Registry. It took forever for me to pick out things I think I need. Let me know if there are any must have items that I should have on my list.

I've already received some boxes of gifts from my close friends. I had an ultrasound this week. The baby is growing and weighs 2lbs 3oz. He was really active and posed for a ton of pictures. This always puts a smile on my face.

This appointment was the first appointment that I've been to without my Husband. He had training this week and couldn't make the appointment. It was a pretty important appointment for us because we were on restriction due to the Placenta Previa. Well everything is still the same.

My ultrasound still shows a placenta Previa. They weren't able to tell me if there has been any improvement or not. Just that the Placenta is still sitting too low. I haven't had any discomfort or bleeding due to this issue. So I figured I would be cleared. I didn't think that the placenta would still be down there.

I was scheduled for another ultrasound in 6 weeks to see if the Placenta has moved up. I'm hoping that it has. Until then I will still be careful and not over extend myself when it comes to doing things.

My Belly looks smaller this week. I guess it's just he angle of the pictures.

This one shows my sons face, but it's so distorted to me. lol. Maybe it's time for me to get a 4D Ultrasound

I haven't had much of an appetite this week. Which has made me not eat much. Then I start to feel sick. I guess that's the babies way of telling me to feed him. Time for me to make some changes.

When I went grocery shopping this week I bought some snacks. I've been trying to grab a snack whenever I feel like I need to eat something. It's almost as if I'm forcing myself to eat. The snacks are jello cups, fruit cups, puddings, yogurts, bananas and grapes.

Since the big meal that I'm eating is breakfast and dinner and we have dinner around 6pm. I'm hoping that this next week I can be able to get myself on a schedule when it comes to eating, so that I'm not starving myself.

I've been staying hydrated by drinking a lot of water. I love juice but I try to only have a glass or two a day and not over due the juice. Water is better for me. I'm always feeling thirsty so I keep a cup of water near me.

This was a pretty relaxed week for me. I guess the roller coaster that I've been on has calmed down. No major changes this week. No complaints of pain either. Which is always a good thing. I'm approaching my third trimester soon.

 Here's the belly!

This post is late because I've had a long, busy and interesting week...

On Wednesday I went to a NBA Pre Season Game. It was my first time at an NBA game so of course I was excited and looking forward to it. The game started at 7pm and my left hand decided to cramp up around 3pm. By 10pm my left hand and arm was killing me and I had a killer headache. I couldn't find my bottle of Tylenol till around 3am, so needless to say I didn't get any sleep. I stayed woke till around 3am.

When I spoke with my Midwife she wrote me a prescription for a wrist stint. I was diagnosed with Pregnancy Induced Carpal Tunnel. Every week there's literally something new going on with my Pregnancy. The pain in my hand only lasted two days. I decided to wear the stint when I'm sleep, and I do this every other night. Just in case I sleep on my arm in an awkward way, which happens often because Its hard for me to get comfortable now that I have a baby belly.

On Friday, The Husband and I, decided to take an early Baby Moon. This is a little vacation/trip before the baby comes. We are sort of early with this trip but due to his schedule and my current comfort and pain levels, this happen to be the perfect time.

We went to Orlando, Florida which is a three hour drive from where we live. Neither of us have ever been there before so we did the tourist thing. I love Sea World San Diego so I was very excited to check out Sea World Orlando. The Shamu Show was awesome! I peed a billion times while we were there so that sort of irritated me. Then my feet decided they wanted to swell up and hurt. I can't win for loosing! Overall we still had a great time at Sea World.

Our favorite part of the trip was The CSI Experience where you get to dress up and view a fake crime scene and try to solve the case. Both of us solved our cases! I actually felt like I was a part of the CSI Las Vegas Team. lol.

Today is a Holiday and all of my weekend excitement has come to an end. It's time for me to rest and enjoy this day with my Husband, since he has the day off. I've done enough walking these past few days to last me a full week! I can't say that I over did it because as soon as I felt tired, I would take a rest break and sit down and chill out until I felt up to walking again. This way, I knew I wouldn't tire myself or push my self to do more then I could.

1. What were you like in middle school and high school?
I was a fun loving girl. I didn't do much to get in trouble. Me and my friends were sorta girly but still sort of tom boyish so I never really hung out with a certain crowd. I fit in with everybody.

2. What were your favorite pastimes?
I would read novels by African American Authors such as E. Lynn Harris and Micheal Baisden. So I spent a lot of time watching basketball and buying magazines with Allen Iversons picture in them.

3. What songs were you obsessed with?
I use to buy any album that Mariah Carey made. She was and still is my favorite artist. I also listened to some savage garden, R. Kelly, Monica, Brandy and a variety of others.

4. What fashion statement do you look back on and cringe?
I would have to say bell bottom jeans. lol. When those things came out that was all that I would buy. I remember my auntie said they were popular when she was young. At some point when I was in middle school them became popular again and it was all that I would wear. lol

5. Who was your celeb crush?
I was in love with NBA player Allen Iverson from the Philadelphia 76ers.

What was your favorite movie?

I've been following the doctors orders pretty well.  I only left the house this week to go grocery shopping. I have been cooking dinner daily so we have not been eating out at all. I think the baby loves home cooked meals. All of my indigestion went away.

I've been having a lot of headaches lately. Tylenol is not really doing the trick for me. I wish there was something else I could take to get rid of these headaches. They must be due to being pregnant because I don't know where else would cause them right now.

My baby is very active when I drink cold stuff and I love ice cold water! He also wakes up around 12am daily! I'm not sure why he's on this weird schedule but we both need to be on the same schedule. I'm normally laying down and getting ready to go to bed when he's waking up doing jump and jacks. lol

I can't believe I'm almost 6 months pregnant! Time is moving fast for me. I have a lot of baby stuff. My grandmother said she would buy the baby swing. I think that's going to be a life safer. I remember it did wonders for my younger sister! I think the swing will stop me from trying to excessively hold the baby. I don't need a spoiled baby. I want a friendly/happy baby that everybody is willing to watch! But I still want him to like to cuddle with me sometimes. lol

My goal for this week is to come up with some memory book ideas. I know that I've been documenting my pregnancy on my blog but I want something in print. Should I create a photobook? Any other ideas on what I should do?

The doctor put me on bed rest. They saw a possible Placenta Previa on my last ultrasound. I'm suppose to take it easy and rest. No heavy lifting and no strenuous activities.

Since the placenta is not all the way down, they are calling it a possible placenta previa. The doctor thinks that the placenta will move up as the baby grows within the next five weeks. Right now it might be low because there's not enough room inside of my growing belly for it to move up.

I hope this is the case. I do not want to have any complications. We are all by ourselves out here. If it turns out to be a placenta previa we would have to a scheduled C-Section. A C-Section to me, means that I would have to have a recovery period that is longer/harder then I would if I had a vaginal birth. The faster the recovery the better for me.

I'm hoping that these next couple of weeks pass by really fast. When I go back to the doctor they will do a new ultrasound. One things for sure, I love viewing the baby on the screen and being able to go home with some pictures!

We're having a BOY!!

We found out Thursday, September 19th. As most of you know, I really thought it was going to be a girl. The baby had the legs closed at the first ultrasound. Which made me think it was a girl.

I also took a ton of online gender predictors that told me it was a girl. Last but not least, based on the baby's heart rate I figured it was a girl because it was on the higher side and it gets higher at each doctor appointment. Needless to say, Non of those prediction test or old wives tales were correct.

As soon as we left our ultrasound appointment, we went to Walmart so I could make the gender reveal cards. It only took a few minutes for me to scan my ultrasound picture and create a simple card. The cards were 44 cents each and they were ready in an hour. It took about an hour for us to shop anyway so it worked out perfect.

I sent my friends and family a gender reveal card last Friday so now every one knows what we are having. They are just as excited as we are!

Week 22 went by so fast. I craved Chocolate and fruit this week. My swelling went away but I've been having a lot of back pain. It's not to bad but of course I would love for it to go away. My baby boy moves around a lot after midnight. I guess he's already making his own schedule. lol.
