Today is New Years Eve. The last day of 2012. This has been a year to remember for me. I have seen and done things that I never thought I would. My husband and I both got a chance to enjoy our time together without any interruptions from Deployments and Underways. I was also able to travel to some places that I've wanted to visit and never got a chance to see before.

I started working on my YouTube Channel around summer time. It did good right away. I was posting regular how to videos showing others how to do things that I knew how to do. lol. Last but not least, I created this blog! Through my blog I'm able to express myself and share my thoughts and opinions with people that I've never met in real life but they are able to relate to me. Being able to communicate and relate to others is one of the greatest feelings ever! I couldn't of asked for a better year then 2012.

2012: My Life in Review

Every wonder how bloggers make money? I'm willing to share my information with others. I've had a lot of people post information that helped me build my blog so now I'm trying to help someone else, If I can.

I will post a series of ways to make money blogging over the next few weeks. So here's my first one...

I currently make most of my money off of Affiliate Ads. I think that a lot of people choose this as a way to make money blogging. Affiliate Ads is performance based marketing.

If your content is very good then you will receive some relevant ads on your blog. I have had a variety of ads on my blog, such as Target, Walmart, Geico and plenty more big companies. For Example, when I posted about Black Friday's Walmart Sales, Walmart ads were posted on my page. If anyone that visited my page clicked on the Walmart ad then I would receive a percentage a small finders fee plus a percentage of the purchase, if there is a purchase.

YOUR not doing much at all. Your just posting good content and the Affiliate Ads are selling themselves!

How I make money blogging Part 1
Every wonder how bloggers make money? I'm willing to share my information with others. I've had a lot of people post information that helped me build my blog so now I'm trying to help someone else, If I can.

I will post a series of ways to make money blogging over the next few weeks. So here's my first one...

When you go late at night/early in the morning you pretty much have the store to yourself. I'm glad we have 24 hour Walmarts out here! 

I can't tell you exactly what we got because we purchased a variety of things. I had produce, dairy, Clothes, Christmas items that were on sale. lol. The Christmas items will be used next year! With our little early mornings hopping spree, it also came with some long hours. This in turn results in me not going to bed at a reasonable time. 

I still had a busy day and went Golfing with my husband since he's on Leave. We always enjoy this time together! I like the fact that I get to have a great personal life with my friends and still get to have an even greater relationship with my husband. I know that some people find it hard to do both. I've never had that problem before. My husband comes first and I never pass on an opportunity to spend time with him.

The military takes up a lot of his time. That's his wife and I'm his mistress. lol. So I make sure to be ready whenever he's home. This is my life and I love it. I would change some things if I COULD, but I only change the things that I CAN!

OAN: I plan to post some reviews this week. All of my reviews are my own personal opinions on products that I use on a regular basis. I purchase these products with my own money and I'm not paid by anyone to review products. It would be nice to get paid for my reviews but it hasn't happened yet!

A Day In The Life... Of A Navy Wife


Today around 1 am me and my friend Brittany decided to go to Walmart. lol. Sounds strange but this is pretty normal for me. Does anybody else just love doing late night shopping like we do?? I love shopping but the stores have been jam packed these last few weeks. Today is the day after Christmas. I know that a lot of people have today off from work. So, of course the malls will be full of shoppers. I'm going to try to stay far away from the shoppers today.

Merry Christmas to all my lovely followers! I hope that everyone enjoyed this lovely day. When I woke up today I looked outside and it was covered in snow. I'm from southern California so you can imagine how excited I was to see snow on Christmas. This was officially my first WHITE CHRISTMAS. I filmed the streets covered in snow and put a small clip on my YouTube Channel.

The downside of it snowing is that I had to drive in it. It wasn't as bad as I thought that it would be. I only had to drive two miles from my house to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. My husband had duty today and I went to have Christmas Dinner on the boat.

They charged $7 for each guest. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. lol. I would have preferred to bring some food from home and just eat that with him. I know he would have loved that but it was easier to just join in on the ships festivities.

We decided to have our Christmas Early due to my husbands schedule. I was very happy with the gifts that I received. One of the items that I really enjoyed is my lava lamp with fish. It's like a fake fish tank. I get to have the fish tank allusion without having to smell anything funny. lol.

I haven't created a new post in a few days. I have been sorta busy with my husband. Not really preparing for Christmas since it's just the two of us. More so just trying to spend time together.

Yesterday we went to Point Defiance Zoo to check out Zoolights. It was really pretty. I love seeing Christmas lights. They also had two new baby tigers there. We went to this Zoo for the first time a few months ago and I got a chance to see the big tigers. It was really nice to see some babies last night. I filmed a few video clips from the Zoo. After we left the Zoo my husband wanted to go to the Casino "real quick" lol. Those are his words, not mines. We ended up being there for a few hours. I always seem to win me some money. It wasn't much but it was something! ahaha. I won $40 so of course I was excited like I had won a million dollars.

Today we just chilled out together and went to take a few photos with a new friend of mines. She's starting her photography business and we were able to get some cute photos taken which will get to be in her Portfolio. That was fun. My husband is not into photos but he had a good time too. That's always nice!


We had a great weekend. My husband had yesterday and today off from work. He has duty tomorrow but I will join him on the ship for Christmas Dinner!

It is Christmas Eve and I want to wish everybody a Merry Christmas!

I haven't created a new post in a few days. I have been sorta busy with my husband. Not really preparing for Christmas since it's just the two of us. More so just trying to spend time together.

I found this site called OPERATION POSTCARDS. They allow you to send a free postcard to a friend or loved one serving in the Military. You have the option to do this from your smart phone or your computer.
It's pretty nice! As you all know, I love free things, but I'm thankful when there's something being offered to military members. I love when people show their appreciation for what the services sacrifice.

Today was the first time that I cooked a meal in a slow cooker. It came out delicious. I made some pot roast. I let it cook in the slow cooker for about 7 hours. The meat was really tender. Try it and let me know how yours turns out!

Ingredients:
Pot Roast
2 Potatoes (cut up in small squares)
1 Stick of Celery (chopped)
3 Carrots
Chopped Garlic
1 Chopped Onion
1 Packet Dry Onion Soup Mix
1 Cup of Water

I decided to mix up my own hair spray today. I'm back to my natural curls now.

I do not like to spray water on my hair to freshen it up. If I did that then I would have to add a moisturizer. I normally use Tresseme Naturals as my daily moisturizer. It's not a leave in conditioner but I use it as one. It works well for me.

Instead of using this on a daily basis I'm planning to use my at home DIY hair spray now. It has natural oils and honey in it so it will keep my hair healthy. I will still use my conditioner at times but as a daily refresher for my hair I'm going to use a couple sprays of this:

Water
Lemon Juice
Honey
Castor Oil
Olive Oil
Essential Oils

Let the water boil then add the rest of the ingredients. I have a small squirt bottle so i just add a few drops of each oil and a teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey. The next time I make a bottle of spray I will create a quick Youtube video showing exactly how I do it.

DIY MOISTURIZING HAIR SPRAY

I decided to mix up my own hair spray today. I'm back to my natural curls now.

I tried these Boca Original Chik'n Nuggets. They are meatless chicken nuggets and they tasted just as good as McDonalds. The funny thing is, we do not even know what's in McDonalds Chicken Nuggets. One thing I know for sure is, these do not contain meat. They are soy based and made with natural ingredients.

I dipped mines in sweet and sour sauce and it made them taste even better. I tried them with ranch dressing and that was yummy also.

The texture is sort of stringy like chicken when you tear it apart. You can tell from the look, taste or feel, that it's not chicken. I plan to keep a supply of these in my freezer. They are great for a light snack or a  meal on the go.

I tried these Boca Original Chik'n Nuggets. They are meatless chicken nuggets and they tasted just as good as McDonalds. The funny thing is, we do not even know what's in McDonalds Chicken Nuggets. One thing I know for sure is, these do not contain meat. They are soy based and made with natural ingredients.

I have been changing my eating habits these last few weeks. So this week I decided to try to not eat any meat. I knew this would be hard because there is no way that my husband is going to eat no meat with me. He's a carnivore! So therefore I will still have to buy meat and cook meat for him.

I decided to purchase some BOCA and Morning Star meatless items. They are soy based and have a meat like texture and taste but there's no meat in it at all. They tasted pretty good to me. I had some ribs, chicken nuggets, chicken fingers and hamburgers. All of these items were meatless. lol. My husband had the real meat while i ate the imitation meats.

The meatless meals made me feel a little hungry when I was done eating them the first few days. After Day three I'm assuming my body had adjusted to this no meat thing. I started to feel full when I was done with my meals.

Here's an example of what I would eat for lunch:
BOCA Meatless Chicken Nuggets (I had a small amount of sweet and sour sauce with these)
Sweet Potato Fries
Serving of Fruit(banana or strawberries)

I plan to review some of the foods that I ate. I will probably post my reviews on Tuesday and Wednesday. I also plan to upload a Youtube video on all the items that I have incorporated in my meal plan for this week.

Time for a change

I know that as long as you have BAH it will never go down for you. You will be grandfathered at the higher rate that you had previously. If you were to become an E5 then you would get the current BAH for that rank. Someone else that was an E5 before the BAH went down will keep the higher rate that they were already receiving. I hope I explained this well and I don't confuse anybody. I tried my best.

I went to Gene Juarez Salon & Spa in Silverdale about a week ago to get my hair washed and flat ironed. It cost me $40 and and a 30 minute drive from my house(lol).They used sulfate free products on my hair.  The products did contain some silicone's but that's fine with me. The silicone's will help protect my hair from the heat that was put on it. They did use a heat protector that also helps protect my hair from any heat damage. I also had them use a anti humidifier. This helps my hair last longer since it's always raining out here and it's been super cold also

I've been going to this salon for almost a month now. This is my second visit. I'm going to try to go once every two weeks so that my hair can get trained again. When you go so long without getting your hair flat ironed sometimes it does not want to take. That's the problem that I was having. So now I'm in the "training" phase. My hair is lasting for almost two whole weeks.

I will wear my natural curls for a few days in between hair appointments. It's very healthy and I make sure to keep it moisturized. I do not plan to use no chemicals on my hair. When I want it straight, I will get it flat ironed which allows me to always go back to my curls by just washing my hair. I love taking care of my natural hair because this enables me to grow long healthy hair. I can't wait to see what it will look like in another few months. I will probably get my ends clipped at the end of January and also do another length check.

My Hair Update December 16 2012
I went to Gene Juarez Salon & Spa in Silverdale about a week ago to get my hair washed and flat ironed. It cost me $40 and and a 30 minute drive from my house(lol).They used sulfate free products on my hair.  The products did contain some silicone's but that's fine with me. I have finally received my approval for breast reduction surgery. I'm super excited! I think I'm the only one that's excited. Everybody keeps saying I don't need to do it.

I'm doing it for me so I can't listen to every one around me. I have Double D's. I'm tired of these things. They are causing back pain and neck pain just having to carry them around all day with me. My Doctor things that it will be better for me to have a reduction and it should eliminate the back and neck problems. Of course there's no way to really know if it will get rid of all my problems until after it's done.

I can't wait to be able to fit comfortable in my sweaters and shirts. Everything fits super snug right around my breast. Even my jackets can't zip up all the way around my breast without smothering them. I'm ready to feel more comfortable in my own skin. This should boost my confidence level!

I plan to document this journey on my YouTube channel. Hopefully my experiences can help some one else out in the near future.

I know some people can't contribute a lot due to other financial obligations that they currently have.

I made a list of goals a few weeks ago. I have accomplished some of them so I can scratch them from the list. Now I just need to update my list and create more small goals.
  • Keep track of our spending for two weeks & Create a monthly budget and stick to it
  • Create a space in my huge bedroom where I can use it exclusively for recording my YouTube videos.
  • Clean my closet out
Sort through all my clothes and put the summer clothes and the stuff that i do not wear in our storage room on the balcony. This will free up so much room. I shop too much so I have a ton of clothes and no room for them in my closets or my drawers.
  • Meet with the personal property department to set up a plan of action for our PCS move which is planned for the beginning of March 2013
I want to get a plan set up asap so that we can already know whats going on. Whenever we move everything is always last minute which leads to a ton of stress. I want to be able to avoid all that extra stress this time around.
  • Finish the last couple of classes needed to complete my associates degree
I'm still working towards this goal. Currently taking online courses as we speak and I have an A in both classes. I'm hoping to take a full load next semester then I will have enough credits to get my Associates Degree. I just registered yesterday for my spring 2013 courses.

Setting goals are important because they encourage you to get things done. If you haven't sat down and came up with a list of goals lately, then maybe it's time that you start now!

My Husband and I, are planning to hopefully take our first Space A Flight next month. We are planning to visit him family and tickets are very expensive so this is a cheaper alternative. We are hoping to get within 7 hours of his hometown and we are willing to rent a car and drive the rest of the way or hopefully be able to pay for an inexpensive regular flight to get us to our final destination.

Space Available Travel (Space A) is a privilege. Officers and members of the Military Departments, and their families may be transported on vessels operated by any military transport agency of the Department of Defense(DoD).

Space A travel is defined as "travel aboard DoD owned or controlled aircraft and occurs when aircraft are not fully booked with passengers traveling under orders". Retired members are given the privilege to fly Space A also. There are six priority levels. Active Duty flying on orders are the first priority.

Space A is an inexpensive way to fly. It will cost you no money, only time. You have to be very flexible with your time. Active Duty Service members can not take a flight without having their leave papers with them, if they are on leave. If they are flying on orders, then they need to have a copy of their orders with them.

Dependents are not allowed to fly alone. They have to fly with the service member unless he or she is deployed. Then they will need to contact the location that they plan to fly from and ask what proof they need to bring with them in order to fly alone.

To register for Space A Flights you need to contact and give them your first and last name, rank/rate and destination. Your name will stay on the Space A list for 45 days. If you plan to fly again after that then you need to put your name on the list again. Some locations require that you call to get your name on the list and others require you to walk in and put your name on the list in person. The terminal will only give you information for flights leaving within the next 72 hours. If you are planning a trip. Plan in advance so that you can contact the terminal every few days and check flights. This will give you an idea of when flights leave to which destinations. You can ask how often they travel to each destination per month. They will not give out detailed information besides this because of OPSEC.

I live in Washington where it's normally flooding and your not able to leave the house at times. There was also a time where it was snowing and my vehicle couldn't pick up any traction on the roads and I was stuck at home. I've heard of people having power outages for a day or even a few days out here. I haven't had to experience that part yet. I'm scared of the dark! lol.

I have a emergency kit in my house already. There's can goods, bottles of water, snacks, batteries, flash lights, candles and a variety of other things. I want to be prepared for anything. So I found this website that sells "EMERGENCY FOOD".

They have packages starting as low as $38. These are food items in pouches that have a 25 year self life. For example, one of the items, is a pouch of mashed potatoes. I'm sure you can buy dry mashed potatoes at the store and just add water but that just add water package will not last 25 years. It will probably expire within a year because of the way that it's packaged. These Side dishes come packaged in 4-serving Mylar pouches with an Oxygen Absorber and a Nitrogen Flush Mylar pouches stored in a stackable, heavy-duty BPA-free plastic bucket.

I know I'm late...but here it goes!

MY WEEKEND



I volunteered at the Womens Shelter for the morning shift on Friday. It's always a nice experience working with the ladies there. I enjoy giving back and being able to help those in need.

The Husband and I had date night on Friday. We did dinner and a movie. It was raining but not too hard. Im so over this rain out here! There's no getting use to it.

Saturday my Husband had to work so it didnt feel like the weekend at all. It was just another day. Then on Sunday he had Duty. There went our whole weekend! He has actually worked the last 8 days with no days off. Which is horrible on the both of us but of course it's worst on him. Im looking forward getting shore duty within the next six months. Im hoping his job becomes more relaxed. The only bad thing about shore duty will be our location but of course we will make the best of it. I can't disclose the location information yet. Hey, I have to keep something a secret around here! lol

Im just glad we were able to spend time together Friday night. We always find time for one another and that's what makes this thing called LOVE work.

My (Late) Weekend Update
I know I'm late...but here it goes!

MY WEEKEND



I volunteered at the Womens Shelter for the morning shift on Friday. It's always a nice experience working with the ladies there. I enjoy giving back and being able to help those in need.

I've been doing a lot of research on the VA Loan because me and my husband want to purchase a home within the next few years. VA Loans offer $0 down and low monthly payments. The loan is guaranteed to active duty service members.

Here's 4 Facts you should know about the VA Loan:
  1. Can only be used to purchase a home that will be your primary residence. Not for vacation or investment properties.
  2. The loan can be reused after it's paid in full. For example you pay your loan off on your house. Now you want to purchase a condo, so you can take out the VA Loan again
  3. This Loan does not offer mortgage insurance. Other loans require you pay a monthly fee when you can't make a 20% down payment. Not having to pay mortgage insurance will save you a lot of money.

I've been doing a lot of research on the VA Loan because me and my husband want to purchase a home within the next few years. VA Loans offer $0 down and low monthly payments. The loan is guaranteed to active duty service members.

Here's 4 Facts you should know about the VA Loan:
  1. Can only be used to purchase a home that will be your primary residence. Not for vacation or investment properties.
  2. The loan can be reused after it's paid in full. For example you pay your loan off on your house. Now you want to purchase a condo, so you can take out the VA Loan again
  3. This Loan does not offer mortgage insurance. Other loans require you pay a monthly fee when you can't make a 20% down payment. Not having to pay mortgage insurance will save you a lot of money.

I went to Gene Juarez Hair Salon yesterday to get my hair done. I got a wash and blow dry and they flat ironed my hair. It looks bone straight!  The hair style came out really nice.

The only problem was the weather. It wasn't raining yet but it was still a damp like feeling. Also known as humidity. The stylist sprayed some ORIBE ANTI-HUMIDITY SPRAY on my hair.
